Today was a real good travel day.  We spent a good 10 hours traveling to the North to Mole National Park.  Along the way we stopped at the Boabeng Monkey Preserve.  Now this monkey preserve is very unique.  The village is very old and has a close relationship with the monkeys.  The relationship is so close that it is customary for the monkeys to come to the public places of the villages to die.

The forest is also very sacred to the people.  They know which trees are natural, and which were planted by ancestors.  They know the story of the trees and they hold the land to be very special.  The river is to remain unused and the monkeys are to remain untouched.  If a monkey is hunted, you will be killed.  They also have a special graveyard where the monkeys are buried and get a marked burial site.

We were able to purchase mangos and bananas to feed the monkeys.  They will come and take the fruit right out of your hand, and at times they would jump on the shoulders.  It was great to see the group go through and have so much fun feeding the monkeys.

We continued our journey north on some very sketchy, pothole riddled roads.  At times I thought he bus was going to go over on its side.  We came upon an overturned truck full of Whiskey, what a shame--not really!!  We stopped on the roadside to get a back of rice and some stew that they put on top.

Arriving in Mole was very nice.  The drive was very long and we were all feeling very cooped up for so long.  The park is beautiful.  It was very cloudy all day and we were able to see lightning across the whole valley.  The hotel sits up high on a hillside overlooking a large valley below.  We all hung out, talked, ate dinner and headed to bed.

I was able to use my bucket bath skills that I picked up last year and improve on them this year.  I learned my ways—no more standing in the bucket—and I am a professional now!  Way better this year then last year.  It was fun hearing the roomies freak out do to cold water.  They will get the hang of it, I am sure.
