It rained so hard last night. The sound was deafening. It was amazing. Waking up this morning was natural and
easy. The bus was fixed and ready for
us. We drove for a long time today to
get back to Kumasi. I read the whole
time. I finished half of my newest
book. We stopped on the way because the
bus smelled like burnt rubber again.
While waiting, Lisa brought out a bunch of different snacks. At that moment I felt so content and
happy. I haven’t felt that way in a long
while.
Volunteering is a selfish thing and I have become very
selfish. I put a lot into it but I am
certain I get more out of it than I should.
It is intoxicating. I love every
moment of it. Afterwards, exhausted and tired, I have this immense feeling of
happiness. It was so great. Everything in the world felt that it was in
its place. We are doing some really good
things and I am so proud of that.
We arrived safely into Kumasi without any issues with the
bus. We all sat during our debriefing
and Richard spoke about some of his experiences. He worked on the bust yesterday for around 12
hours. Then the rain started
coming. The bus was in an area without
the protection of a garage and had no adequate lighting. So Lisa and Karen took a taxi over to help
out and check on the status. As they
left the rain started pouring down. So
hard that pot holes became pools that threatened to seep into the taxi cab. Richard and the other workers could see the
clouds of rain that were headed their way and the workers wanted to quit. Richard told them no. They had to get it done that night because we
had to go home to Kumasi. The workers
told Richard to pray, which he promptly did.
Lisa and Karen arrived to the town Damongo where Richard was
and there was not a drop of water. They
could see the clouds over Mole and see the rain but it stayed dry enough for
them to finish the work on the bus.
Richard also pointed out that wherever the bus broke down
there was always somebody to help us.
The locations have been various and there have been many breakdowns but
they all worked out. In every instance
there was a man nearby by that could help.
Richard thanked God over and over.
We thanked Richard. He is amazing
and takes care of us.
